SUMMARY:Physical Manifestation of Generative AI Music Systems for Live Per
 formance
DESCRIPTION:Perry Naseck and Lancelot Blanchard (MIT Media Lab), Madhav La
vakare (Yale University), and Kimaya Lecamwasam and Joseph Paradiso (MIT M
edia Lab)\n\nThis paper explores the physical manifestation of generative
AI music systems for live performance, focusing on bridging the expressive
gap between AI-generated music and audience perception. Through a year-lo
ng collaboration with a human performer, we constructed a kinetic sculptur
e that visualizes the outputs of an AI jam_bot during concerts. The sculp
ture, powered by ML-based and pattern-driven mapping methodologies, interp
rets real-time AI musical decisions as expressive movements. Audience feed
back indicates increased engagement and curiosity, although interpretabili
ty remains a challenge. Our work highlights the potential of embodied visu
alization to establish communicative presence for AI performers and sugges
ts avenues for future research.\n\nRegistration Category: Enhanced Access,
