Anyi Rao is Assistant Professor of Arts & Machine Creativity and Interdisciplinary Areas at HKUST, where he directs the Multimedia Creativity Lab. He builds human-centered AI to understand, edit and generate film, video and design content for global creative industries. Rao founded and leads the AI for Creative Visual Content Generation, Editing and Understanding (CVEU) workshop series—now in its seventh edition after ICCV 2021, ECCV 2022, ICCV 2023, CVPR 2024–25, SIGGRAPH 2024, Paris ShortFest 2023, and the 2025 HKUST AI Film Festival. Co-author of open-source ControlNet, AnimateDiff and MovieNet, he earned the 2023 ICCV Marr Prize, chairs UIST 2024–25.
