Biography
nolan Huang Xuanyang (CN) is a PhD candidate in Computational Media and Arts at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), an artist and educator based in Guangzhou, China.
His research examines how artificial intelligence develops its own cultural agency, creating a "mise en abyme" of interpretations that illuminate AI's distinctive ways of perceiving and understanding reality. His work has been published in digital art conferences and journals including ACM SIGGRAPH Asia (24'), ISEA (22' 24' 25'), ACM Multimedia, IJCAI, Ars Electronica Expanded, VINCI, and xCoAx.
nolan's artworks received finalist nomination for the Laguna Prize and have been exhibited across Venice Arsenal, Barcelona, New York, Zurich, Weimar and Hong Kong. His research has also been presented at Leonardo Laser talk and SIGGRAPH DAC. As an educator, nolan previously lectured in the BA Technoetic Arts program led by Professor Roy Ascott at Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, China.
