Biography
Hayk Azizbekyan is an experienced field archaeologist, having excavated at sites across Armenia for many years. He is a PhD student in the School of Humanities at the University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on the use of augmented and mixed reality headsets to improve how archaeologists record and interpret information about the ancient past while on-site. As archaeology is inherently 3D, and requires hands-free data interaction, these headsets have the potential to greatly enhance how archaeologists gather and use their data. Hayk holds an undergraduate degree and a Masters degree from the Yerevan State University of Armenia. He is also a professional chess player who taught chess to children for many years.
