Shahrel Azmin Suandi received his B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering and his M.Eng. and D.Eng. in Information Science from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, in 1995, 2003, and 2006, respectively. He is a Professor and Dean at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Before entering academia, he spent six years in industry, working with Sony Video Malaysia and Technology Park Malaysia Corporation. His research interests include face-based biometrics, object detection, tracking, optimization, and deep learning. He serves as a reviewer for IEEE T-IFS, IEEE Access, IET Biometrics, IET Computer Vision, ICPR, and related international venues.
