Iliyan works in physically based and generative simulation and reconstruction of complex visual appearance. His interests include global illumination rendering, volumetric scattering, ray tracing, material models, perception, 3D reconstruction, numerical methods, stochastic and deterministic sampling, and the intersection of these with machine learning, specifically generative image models.
