Yi Cai received his Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from North Carolina State University. He worked as Assistant Professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT) in the United States before joining HKUST(GZ). His current research interests include: (1) Next-generation Additive Manufacturing, (2) Novel robots for Future Manufacturing and Services, and (3) Digital Twins for Advanced Engineering Systems. Dr. Cai has published more than 30 articles in reputable journals in the fields, including Advanced Functional Materials, Journal of Manufacturing Systems, IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, Journal of Manufacturing Processes, Computers in Industry, and Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing.
