Biography
Mindy Meng Wang is a Chinese/Australian composer and one of the world’s leading contemporary Guzheng artists. Classically trained in China and later studying composition in the UK, she has become a bold innovator, introducing the 2,500-year-old Guzheng (Chinese harp) into genres such as experimental, jazz, classical, electronic, pop, and improvisation. Mindy has received numerous awards including APRA’s “Performance of the Year,” the Sidney Myer Fellowship, and the “Best Musician” at the Music Victoria Awards. She is also the first artist-in-residence at Melbourne Recital Centre to perform on a non-Western instrument. Her digital releases have attracted over 2 million listeners in last 12 months, and she has led over 20 commissioned projects. A passionate cultural ambassador, Mindy advocates for inclusivity, diversity, and deeper artistic exchange between Australia and China.
