Biography
YuanZhang is a PhD student at the Department of Information Art & Design at Tsinghua University. She holds an undergraduate degree and a Master's degree from Tsinghua and a second master's degree from the Royal College of Art in the UK; she is also a researcher and project leader at the Tsinghua Institute of Visual Studies and the Institute for Creative New Media Interpretation & Performing Arts(IMPA). Her main research interests include immersive new media arts and spaces, performing and interpretative arts and theatre, and digital expressions of traditional culture and media design for special groups.

Her works include a round dance design for the Winter Paralympic Games, a stage installation design for the G20 National Summit cultural performance, and a main visual design for the 2019 World Garden Festival float. Yuan Zhang's research projects on children with hearing impairment have received recognition, including awards from TUGICC (The Global Innovation Centre for Children) and a state-funded grant. She has been severely honoured with national academic scholarships, participation in the Global Youth Creativity Programme, and awards in national design competitions.
